Daytrip Spotlight: Clayton, GA

Are you looking for a day trip or a weekend getaway? Think about making your way over to Clayton, Georgia. Clayton is a little town located near Black Rock Mountain State Park, about a 45-minute drive from us. It has a great downtown area and many local restaurants to choose from. It is surrounded by natural beauty and has many outdoor activities for you to enjoy.

If you are planning on visiting Clayton you should take a walk through their downtown and stop by Wander, a locally-owned business that has outdoor gear, apparel, trinkets, etc. Freshman Hayley Waldroup says it’s her favorite place to visit while in Clayton. If you would like more details on Wander check out their website https://wandernorthgeorgia.com/.

Clayton is also home to many great restaurants, for example, Universal Joint whose burgers are great, Mama G’s Italian Restaurant which has the best garlic knots, and Fortify Pi. While these restaurants are all great if you would like something light to eat, stop by Clayton Cafe to pick up a coffee and pastry.

There are many waterfalls to hike to scattered throughout the Clayton area, some being Rainbow Falls, Timpson Falls, Justina’s Falls, and many more. These scenic hikes are beautiful and most are fairly easy to get to which is perfect if you are just getting into hiking. I would recommend you go and check out this beautiful town and all it has to offer. It is perfect for you and your family to go visit or even to take your friends for a day.
