Emma Ash is a senior at Hayesville High School, and has played basketball since youth league. Emma has gone above and beyond to not just be an amazing starting shooting guard and making great passes, but also to be an amazing teammate. She always encourages everyone to keep their head up when it goes down and always remains positive. One goal Emma has conquered from her freshman to senior year is self worth. She used to struggle with letting the little mistakes and the negativity overcome the positive. This year is different though, as she has chosen to focus more on the positive and not let the negative thoughts affect her as much as it did.
Basketball has helped Emma realize who she is as a person as well as helped her with many friendships. She is very thankful to be given the opportunity to play and grow her love for this sport. Even though Emma loves basketball, she does not have any plans on going that route after high school. After the year is over, she is reaching to go to a four year college with plans to major in business to then go into the work force with her family’s business. Outside of basketball, Emma likes going to car shows and hanging out with friends. Emma is an amazing person on and off the court and she has inspired so many people to let go and play the game instead of getting so caught up in their mistakes.
A very good memory Emma has made from playing high school basketball is when Keith Thompson brought her entire team doughnuts. Emma’s dad went by and got himself and her brother a doughnut one day. Because she did not get one, Keith brought Emma and her whole team doughnuts to make up for it. Emma has enjoyed her time getting the chance to play all throughout her life and make countless memories and friendships. Emma will always have a special place in her heart for basketball.
