SWARM Club, which is lead by Mrs. Gabby with the help of other staff and students, has been a club for 3 years, but it had dissolved before, starting off as a Safe Promise Club and Sad Club, which are like national organizations leading students to be against violence and bad decisions, but has now turned into SWARM!! Mrs. Gabi’s job in SWARM is to organize meetings, give advice to students making posters or coming up with new ideas. Club participants decorate the posters though. When asked why she wanted to create SWARM, Mrs. Gabby replied, “SWARM started as part of Safe Promise Club and Sad Club, which are like national organizations, but they’re all about students against violence and bad decisions. When she first met with those students, their ideas were to be on campus more and participate in school spirit. This all happened after Covid. They were determined to get the student sections back up and going.”
When asked about her goals for SWARM, she said she wanted to get students more involved with showing school spirit. Her favorite part of SWARM is letting club participants lead with decorating posters and coming up with ideas. She says that she is there to help and do whatever is needed and mainly lead the club, but the participants do more of the themes and decorating. When asked how SWARM motivates her, she replied with, “I love seeing students get excited about doing something other than academics. It gives them a sense of community and doing fun things outside of school.” Now, how does this club impact the school environment? Well, it brings fun to students, especially with Powderpuff, since it encourages students to be involved and have some nice competition. It also brings school spirit! Some of the benefits that SWARM has is that it gives students a leadership role. This club has become student led since the students do what they want to with the themes and posters. It benefits the school because it shows school spirit and builds community!
