Do you ever wonder how kids go from being helpless babies to confident, creative individuals? Well child development is all about that amazing journey. It includes how they grow physically, think and learn, and interact with others.
Child development is a class that is led by Mrs. Clonts. We asked Mrs. Clonts in her words what this class teaches students, and she told us that this class teaches students infant development, labor and delivery, pregnancy, social emotional development, cognitive development, and everyday life skills. The most engaging part of the child development class is the stages of labor and delivery.
Child Development came to Hayesville High School in August of 2023. Students who take this class learn about parenting, birth, toddlers, and how to take care of infants. Towards the middle of each semester five students over a course of three weeks take home Real Care Babies These babies help students understand the responsibilities of being a parent. Students also learn about Physical Development (Growth in size, strength, and motor skills, from crawling to running), Cognitive Development (Learning, problem-solving, and memory improvement), Social and Emotional Development(Understanding emotions, building relationships, and learning cooperation) and last they learn about Language Development (Expanding vocabulary and communication skills through talking and reading.)
