Mrs. Christy Caruso is one of our many amazing teachers here at Hayesville High School. A board certified teacher, Mrs. Caruso is extremely loved by all students.
Before Mrs. Caruso started teaching, she was a nurse. She did multiple things involving nursing such as being a floor nurse, a home health nurse, and working in management at the nursing home. When asked why she became a teacher, Mrs. Caruso said “because the schedule allowed me to spend more time with my family, and as a nurse I was working holidays and weekends.” Mrs. Caruso has been teaching for just around 10 years.
Mrs. Caruso says she began nursing because she wanted to help people. She knew she would always have a job and there would always be a job to be filled as a nurse. Mrs. Caruso says that her favorite part about teaching is getting to know her students, forming relationships with them, and seeing the growth in their abilities and their love for healthcare. She attended Tri County Community College to gain her nursing degree.
Mrs. Caruso teaches all three of our health science classes, which are health science 1, health science 2, and nursing fundamentals. When asked what some facts are about herself, Mrs. Caruso says, she has chickens, she has 3 sons who she says are crazy, she likes to go fishing and bowling, cooking and baking, and has coached many rec teams.
Mrs. Caruso is so appreciated and loved. When asked “What has Mrs. Caruso done for you, and what is the best thing about her,” Senior Mallory Peck said, “Mrs. Caruso has been a favorite teacher of mine. I’ve had her every year except this year and I really miss her class. She’s very understanding and doesn’t stop till you fully understand what curriculum we are learning. She’s very kind and wants the best for you.”
