It’s a new school year, with that usually comes new things. Especially with our Yellow Jacket Marching Band. At our first home varsity football game our marching band got to show off their new uniforms. This is a breath of fresh air since they have had the old uniforms since some of our teachers were in school. Senior Maya Polk, who has been in marching band for 4 years, “says that the old uniforms were uncomfortable and not breathable, they did showcase how long we had been in marching band but did not hold sentimental value.” It seems it was time for a change in the marching band uniforms. The new uniforms are a nice black and gold and look nicer than the olds. Senior Grace Gibson, who has been in the marching band since 7th grade, says, “The new uniforms are much more comfortable, more breathable and not as stiff.” She also says that the old ones held sentimental value to her as she has grown up wearing them and her mother, the late band director Mrs. Gibson, used them as well. The new uniforms seem to be a hit in the band department as Senior Ann Gibson says that “the new uniforms are so much lighter and smell better than the old ones” The new uniforms are beautiful and seem to be a definite upgrade and also gives our Yellow Jacket Marching Band a new look for this new school year and future years ahead.
