The senior class is keeping one of the school’s most meaningful traditions alive, which is painting the senior rock. For many students, the chance to decorate the rock is more than just an art project. It’s a tradition that marks the beginning of their final year of high school.
Kyla Bauer described the rock as “A masterpiece,” showing the pride the class feels in their work. Dalton Hunt reflected on the moment with mixed emotions, saying, “It’s so sad and disappointing that it’s our senior year. I’ve always seen the seniors paint the rock and I’ve always wanted to do it, and now is the time.”
Others expressed their excitement in unique ways. “Love the rock, just wish it was shiny,” said Ella Rodgers, while Grace Gibson shared her gratitude for the tradition “It feels different to be a senior, the rock is a wonderful tradition and I’m grateful to be doing it with my senior class.”
Though each student sees the rock a little differently, one thing is clear. It represents both the ending of one chapter and the celebration of the senior class’s unity and memories.
