Many students around the school and around the country can be found carrying a Stanley or an Owala. These are two of the most popular water bottles right now, and both have many different options. The two most popular are the Owala FreeSip and the Stanley 40 oz Tumbler. These are the two I will be comparing in my article.
Both of these water bottles have many great color options. Owala’s are more limited because they do not have solid color bottles. Most of their bottles have lids with different color combinations. This can annoy some people if they don’t like the color of the lid and there isn’t any way to change the lid without buying a second bottle. With Stanley, most have only two colors on the bottle. However, many people customize their bottles by adding name plates.
Recently there has been some criticism towards Stanley cups. People have been saying that their handles have fallen off and they are hard to use because they spill often. Junior Lilly Dockery states, “My Stanley handle broke last year after I had it for two months, and I have had trouble carrying it ever since.” There have also been many positive comments about Stanleys. People say they drink more water carrying them around. They also say they are easier to carry around because they fit in most cup holders and have a handle. Some critiques about Owalas are that they don’t fit in some cup holders and they don’t hold as much water. Yet, not everything said about the Owala brand is negative. Many athletes prefer this cup to Stanley because they don’t spill as easily and they have a lock feature so the lid can not come off. Owala bottles also easily fit in backpack cup holders.
Even though there are many differences between the two cups, at the end of the day they both help keep students hydrated. If you are pondering a new water bottle, think about how you will use it. Would you use it for sports or take it to school or work? That can play a major role in what bottle to choose. Let us know which water bottle you prefer in our poll!
