This past week the HHS HOSA club traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete in the State competition. HOSA, which stands for Health Occupations Students of America, is a healthcare club that high school students are involved in and explores careers in the health industries. The students learn about different healthcare professions and host fundraisers for upcoming trips including going to the state competition. On the trip, students were required to pick a medical event and take a 90 minute test on the event they chose. Based on the event that was chosen if the student made top 20 they would then go to perform the skill. The students had a great time on the trip including going to the mall, HOSA dances and going out to dinner together. The trip was incredibly successful with 2 Top 20 finalists: Emma Elver (medical spelling), Hayden Hunt (medical spelling). Addison Sorrells made the second round for nursing assisting, and Landon Trout did the same with Veterinary science. Both students were incredibly proud of themselves and their classmates on their achievements on this year’s trip. The students thank Mrs. Trout, Mrs. Caruso, and Ms. Thompson for helping make their trip possible and making it a memorable experience that they will treasure for a lifetime.
