On October 1st, the Teacher Cadet class visited Union County High School for an educational and eye-opening field trip. The purpose of the visit was to observe different teaching strategies, classroom environments, and school operations in a “real world” setting. During the visit, the students were welcomed by the staff and had the opportunity to sit in on various classes, interact with teachers and sit through classes set up by teachers to help teacher cadets to go through different teaching styles. Many cadets noted how different teaching styles impacted student engagement and classroom management. The experience helped the cadets connect what they’ve learned in class to actual teaching practices. It also gave them a clearer understanding of the challenges and rewards of working in education.
Overall, the trip was both informative and inspiring, reinforcing many cadets’ interest in pursuing careers in teaching. It also provided valuable exposure to the dynamics of a high school setting. Many different schools from different counties attended UCHS for this event.
