Homecoming week was full of memorable moments here at HHS, and for senior Briley Clampitt, one of those moments was being named runner up on the homecoming court. A senior known for her positive attitude and school spirit, Briley said the moment caught her off guard in a good way, “At first I was so shocked, I never thought this would happen. Then a wave of happiness came. I couldn’t help but smile and soak up the moment.” This moment was both shocking and joyful for her.
Her friends and family were quick to show their support, telling her that they weren’t surprised and congratulating her with excitement. One of Briley’s favorite homecoming events from the week was getting glammed up. But it was even more meaningful for her to watch the other girls enjoy the spotlight as well. “Not only that seeing the other girls shine and how happy they all looked elevated the entire experience.” For Briley, spirit week was another big highlight, dressing up for the themes and enjoying her senior year made the week even more special.
Being named runner up has even deeper meaning for her, “To me it means that I have made a positive mark here at Hayesville High School. Kindness is key. I know that sounds cliche, but it really does matter. I believe you should truly treat others how you want to be treated, because you never know what someone is going through or how your words may affect them.” As she moves forward, her message of kindness and empathy continues to inspire those around her, proving that success isn’t just winning something or having a title, but by the way we treat others.
