Recently, on Monday, October 6th, a marine recruiter visited our school and set up a booth next to the cafeteria, featuring pamphlets and a pull-up bar, as well as providing students with the opportunity to discuss potential opportunities and learn more about the U.S. Marine Corps.
Featured with the pull-up bar was an assortment of goods, including keychains, bottles, and even shirts. Students who attempted to do pull-ups were given rewards based on their performance and the number of pull-ups they completed. One student managed to accomplish 20 pull-ups and was given a shirt as a reward. Other rewards were also given out to students who participated.
In a conversation with the recruiter, he brought up how they had their main office located in Sylva, North Carolina, and that they were responsible for recruiting people in the nearby area, including our school. He also mentioned their plans for hopefully revisiting, as he said that he tries to visit each school at least once, and occasionally twice per month.
Some students decided to sign up to be contacted about the marines to get extra information, and potentially joining the marines. Even students who were not interested in joining the marines still got an opportunity to talk about potential opportunities or even just try to set a personal best when it comes to pull-ups and maybe rece
