There are quite a bit of people that take a getaway for the holidays, while others stay home. Some people travel far while others opt for closer destinations.
I interviewed some people about what they do for a holiday getaway. Sophomore Miriam Canup expresses that she and her family go to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. “When we go to Pigeon Forge we go look at the Christmas lights and we always go ride go-karts and go to a good ice cream place. If she could go anywhere in the world for a perfect holiday getaway Miriam would want to go to New York City to see all the holiday lights.
I also interviewed KayLee Defee; for holiday getaways she goes to Destin, Florida. Some of the things she and her family do are go shopping, hang out with family, and play Christmas games. If KayLee could go anywhere in the world for a perfect holiday getaway it would be the Bahamas. “I’ve already been, but I just feel like it’s the perfect place to go for Christmas/winter.” It’s warm there and it is on the beach, so it’s summer in the middle of winter.
Sophomore Colton Bruggers expresses that he travels to Maine. Colton enjoys snowboarding and ice fishing while visiting his family in Maine. If he could choose a getaway he’d like to get a place on a mountain in Colorado to go snowboarding.
Winter break is a time when you have more time to travel. I don’t do much for a holiday getaway, but we do usually gather with family. We normally have food out like a charcuterie tray, sandwiches, or just little things to munch on.
Sometimes we just sit around and watch holiday movies and play board games. One thing is certain, we have a lot of fun around the holidays.
